The following information is about Color Difference.

Color Difference Defined

All of the color spaces used in color video require three components. These might be R'G'B', Y'IQ, Y'UV or Y'(R' - Y')(B' - Y'). In the Y'(R' - Y')(B' - Y') color space, the R' - Y' and B' - Y' components are often referred to as color difference signals for obvious reasons. They are made by subtracting the luma (Y') from the red and blue components. I and Q and U and V are also color difference signals since they are scaled versions of R' - Y' and B' - Y'. All the Ys in each of the Y'IQ, Y'UV and Y'(R' - Y')(B' - Y') are basically the same, although they are slightly different between SDTV and HDTV.
