Quad Chroma Defined

Quad chroma refers to a technique where the sample clock is four times the frequency of the color burst. For NTSC this means that the sample clock is about 14.32 MHz (4 x 3.579545 MHz), while for PAL the sample clock is about 17.73 MHz (4 x 4.43361875 MHz). The reason these are popular sample clock frequencies is that, depending on the method chosen, they make the chrominance (color) decoding and encoding easier.
