A method of encoding digital data onto a carrier for RF transmission. QAM is typically used for cable transmission of digital SDTV and HDTV signals. DVB-C supports 16-QAM, 32-QAM, 64-QAM, 128-QAM, and 256-QAM, although receivers need only support up to 64-QAM.
